The Idaho Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors invites applications for the position of◊ Deputy Director for Surveying ◊The Idaho Board of Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors is seeking an individual committed to assisting the Board with its mission of assuring that individuals providing professional engineering and professional land surveying services are competent to practice. Responsibilities: - Educates land surveyors on competent and ethical surveying practice
- Conducts investigations into allegations of violations of surveying laws or rules and possible unlicensed practice
- Serves as the expert witness for surveying cases subject to prosecution with the board
- Assists in improving the number of new licensed land surveyors by working with academia and the Department of Labor
- Addresses disputes related to surveying
Ideal Candidate is as follows: (1) An experienced professional land surveyor who has provided expert testimony in court proceedings regarding survey matters. (2) Mediation and conflict management skills are desired to address complaints. (3) Clear organization, written, and oral communication skills are essential to conducting investigations. (4) An interest in working with academia to increase the number of land surveyor interns is desired. (5) Finally, the ability to handle a variety of tasks and managing various functions within an organization including budgeting and working with the legislature and stakeholders to advance the laws and rules of the Board. Qualifications: - Licensure as a professional land surveyor in Idaho (provide license #, date, and state) or the ability to obtain licensure within a minimum of six months
- A minimum of 8 years of licensed land surveying experience
- Engineering and/or land surveying experience.
- Computer skills
- Report writing
- Speaking and testifying experience
