has an opening for a Financial Officer in Boise, Idaho

Summary

The Idaho Governor’s Office of Species Conservation (OSC) looking to fill an opening for a Financial Officer in Boise, Idaho. 

OSC is dedicated to planning, coordinating and implementing the State's actions to conserve and restore species listed as threatened, endangered or candidate under the federal Endangered Species Act (ESA). This work is done in conjunction with the States' natural resource agencies and with the input of the citizens of Idaho, while taking into consideration the economic vitality of the State.

The Financial Officer will be responsible for all accounting functions necessary for OSC to achieve its statutory mission of recovering and conserving at-risk wildlife populations and their habitats. This position will complete budget requests, monitor budgets, process payroll and travel vouchers, perform agency fiscal controls, federal grant acquisition and reporting and ensure fiscal operations are in compliance with state and Federal policies.

Key Responsibilities 

This position will develop and recommend financial policies and procedures including ensuring financial reporting systems and documents are in compliance with laws, policies, standards, regulations and with generally accepted accounting principles and practices. They will design an effective financial budget for OSC, monitor budgets and accounting information, process financial documents, and oversee financial transactions, fiscal controls, accounting services, grant acquisition and reporting, along with other fiscal activities. The financial officer will also assist in strategic plan development and performance reporting.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's (or higher) in accounting, business management, administration, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience auditing and interpreting computerized financial reports and data, auditing or designing and maintaining computerized financial reporting systems and subsystems, auditing or establishing internal financial reporting controls, preparing financial management or audit reports
  • Experience preparing and making oral presentations
  • Ability to effectively use office productivity software, i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email/calendar management tools, etc.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working with state governmental fiscal operations
  • Some knowledge of fish and wildlife conservation
  • Experience with auditing
